Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit to Overton County Criminal History, the reasons it may be processed, and the limited situations in which it may reach another service. By continuing to use the website, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates the tool. That company processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or direct message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our operation unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, standard server and analytics records may capture technical details such as:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show which pages receive traffic and how visitors move through the website. Analytics providers combine that activity into site-use reports. A browser can reject cookies, although blocking them may change how some features behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
  • Sending your search requests to the right partner service
  • Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
  • Tracking down and fixing technical issues
  • Showing ads that may line up with your interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Overton County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a personal criminal-record database. It explains how to reach the Overton County Sheriff, the Circuit Court Clerk, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records, and this operation is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies run the embedded search tools. Information submitted there is governed by the provider's policy, including its retention and disclosure terms. We do not control those practices. Review the provider's notice before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Overton County offices, Tennessee agencies, courts, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is controlled by their policies.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be disclosed to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable technical and operational safeguards protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information shown to have come from a minor will be removed when appropriate notice is received.

Your Data Rights

Applicable Tennessee consumer-protection law, including the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 47-18-101 through 47-18-132, may provide rights based on the facts and a user's residence. Requests concerning data held by this operation may seek to:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

The Tennessee Public Records Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 10-7-501 through 10-7-515, applies to records held by Tennessee government custodians rather than data held by this private website. Criminal-history dissemination by TBI is separately governed by Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 38-6-117 and 38-6-120.

This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revision takes effect when it is posted here with an updated date.
